I was born in Bassano Del Grappa, Italy. The daughter of an ex nun and an inventor I began performing at age of seven both in dance and theater. As a teenager, I started to be interested in painting and filmmaking. The films of Pedro Almodovar, Alan Parker, Fassbinder, Zhang Yimou inspired me and I studied passionately the plays of Chekhov, Federico Garcia Lorca and Thornton Wilder.
The choreography and stage productions of Angelin Preljoaj, Pina Bausch and Jiri Kylian inspired me to find my own original voice and a way to convey my own ideas. So, I decided to become an artist and learn the rules of performing art and theater. To this end, I earned a bachelor degree in Performing Art in Milan, where I took part in modern dance and theater productions.
After winning a scholarship and studying Musical Theater at the Bernstein Musical Theater School in Bologna, I moved to New York City and attended the Lee Strasberg Institute and the Susan Slavin Actors and Singers Academy. I gained experience performing in a variety of musical and theater productions before I decided it was time to shift from performing other people’s work to creating her own. I began studying filmmaking at the New Jersey City University by making videos and short films.
I'm currently finishing my first feature film and writing a treatment for a psychological thriller about love and the supernatural, based on the lives and works of Roman Polanski and Michael Bulgakov.
Loredana Gasparotto produced and directed two short films titled Tainted and Hamartia based on her original narrative scripts. Both films have been screened for The New Filmmakers’ series at the New York Film Anthology Archives and they have been accepted at the Bergenfield Film Festival in New Jersey. Tainted has received a Honorable Director’s citation at the Black Maria Film festival and the New Jersey Young Filmmakers.
Tainted can be watched on IMDB.
